Welcome to West Humber Dentistry! Curious about what your first visit will be like?
What to Expect During Your First Visit
Before the dentist jumps in and starts to perform an exam, we always like to take the time to get to know our patients a bit more. Information about your oral health history can greatly help your dentist give you the best care possible and make recommendations that will especially help you.
Your Dental Exam
When the exam begins, your dentist will thoroughly inspect all areas of the mouth. While many patients think that a dentist is just concerned with the teeth, a dentist is concerned additionally with the gums, lips, cheek and other soft tissue.
In addition to inspecting the area, your dentist will also conduct x-rays to see what is happening under the surface. This is crucial in helping to identify small cavities forming in teeth as well as unseen issues with the jaw. After fulling inspecting and examining the full mouth area, your dentist can make any recommendations for treatments based on his findings. In some instances, small issues like a cavity can be treated during the same visit.
Your Dental Cleaning
Lastly, it is time for most patient’s favorite part of their visits: the dental cleaning! While brushing and flossing are effective in maintaining oral health, professional teeth cleaning is the only way to remove built-up plaque and tartar. Using specially designed tools, our hygienist will completely remove all buildups and leave you with an amazingly clean mouth that will have you smiling all day long.
